Edgewater Networks, Inc. Announces Powerful Edge Solution For IP Voice And Video Applications

- EdgeMarc Series VoIP network appliances reduce costs, increase security, guarantee call quality and simplify management of VoIP services for enterprise and service provider customers

Sunnyvale, Calif. - May 14, 2003 – Edgewater Networks, Inc., announced today a new generation of edge devices purpose built to reduce the cost and complexity of securing and maintaining mission-critical voice and video traffic. The EdgeMarc 30, EdgeMarc 300 and EdgeMarc 300T each combine a SIP, MGCP and H.323 compatible VoIP proxy, a VoIP-aware Firewall, DHCP server, NAT and QoS functions, advanced call control and diagnostic features into a low-cost, easily managed device.

“We are addressing a real need in the marketplace by providing tightly integrated, affordable and easy to use platforms that enable the delivery of real-time, interactive IP services,” said Dave Norman, Chief Executive Officer of Edgewater Networks, Inc.

Real Solutions Solving Real-World Problems

Designed to serve as the demarcation point between the WAN and the LAN EdgeMarc Series appliances effectively resolve the NAT/Firewall traversal problems associated with deploying VoIP in the enterprise while at the same time guaranteeing the reliability and availability of real-time, interactive IP services. Resolving these problems means customers can move from an environment where they were using multiple public IP addresses insecurely to hiding enterprise LAN topology by using one public IP address securely. Each appliance is an all-in-one solution that replaces multiple standalone systems typically deployed at locations serving several IP phones or multimedia stations.

Telverse Communications, a nationwide, managed communications services provider has standardized on the EdgeMarc Series product family for the delivery of its Business Tone service offering. “Deploying the EdgeMarc Series product as our CPE demarcation point has enabled us to provide better service to our customers by simplifying installation and ongoing maintenance,” said Bruce Young, Vice President of Engineering for Telverse. “We support the vast majority of our subscribers using the Edgewater solution and their continued focus on simplifying and securing VoIP deployments will help us continue to scale our business,” added Mr. Young.

Broad Interoperability Extends The Benefits of IP Voice And Video
EdgeMarc Series appliances enjoy broad interoperability with softswitch, IP Phone and multimedia vendors. They have been tested or deployed in production environments with a wide array of equipment from vendors such as Cisco, Polycom, 3COM, Mitel, pingtel, Sylantro, VocalData, BroadSoft, CommWorks, Codent, Wave Three Software, Sonus Networks and others. “Edgewater has done a good job of building on industry standards,” said Scott Hoffpauir, Chief Technology Officer of BroadSoft, the leading provider of hosted communications platforms. “This commitment to interoperability enables enterprise users to capitalize on the significant benefits provided by ubiquitous VoIP deployment.”
