Communications Booth 947
BOSTON, Sept. 20, 2005 - Edgewater Networks, Inc.,
a provider of solutions that make the deployment of voice and video
over IP easier and more secure, and LineSider Communications, a global
IP voice/data management and converged communications provider, today
announced a co-technology initiative to engineer and deliver a fully
managed policy-based VoIP and VPN solution based on Edgewater’s
EdgeMarc platform. The companies will begin integrating LineSider’s
WirePower™ Converged Control technology into Edgewater Networks’
EdgeMarc Series appliances to simplify the service deployment, network
and security management and administration of IP resources within an
enterprise networking environment. The solution will provide any enterprise,
particularly security-sensitive industries such as healthcare, financial
services and government agencies, a policy-based security management
and network control capability critical in managing converged VoIP,
data and video enterprise networks.
The co-technology initiative delivers on the original promise of IP
VPN offerings by providing the cost economies and integrated management
control that have eluded the industry to date. The solution comes on
the heels of a growing demand for secure, business-class VoIP and IP
VPN services among business customers who require the reach and economics
of the Internet, and seek to reduce their dependency upon costly frame
relay and MPLS offerings.
Edgewater Networks and LineSider Solution
The Edgewater and LineSider co-technology effort enables the first platform
that integrates management of services across local and wide area networking
environments. LineSider’s WirePower Converged Control technology
is a powerful network operating and directory management system that
offers a set of security policy features and management capabilities
for both network and end user applications. These capabilities create
a secure VoIP and VPN network, provision new sites and end users on-the-fly,
and provide the management tools critical in controlling a converged
enterprise network to the device-level, without compromising network
security.
“This development effort will enable the EdgeMarc to play a greater
role in managing the application requirements of enterprise users,”
said Doug Wadkins, Chief Technical Officer of Edgewater Networks, Inc.
“It is a scalable security solution that provides effective protection
for enterprise VoIP deployments.”
Through the co-technology integration effort, enterprises will capitalize
on converged managed services addressing voice and data QoS, service
monitoring, traffic management, enhanced security and automated service
delivery based on the unique requirements of the enterprise. LineSider’s
WirePower Converged Control technology will be compatible with Edgewater
Networks’ EdgeView network management system to provide a unified
view into the overall health and service performance of the converged
enterprise network.
“A single appliance with centralized management is ideal for converged
enterprise networks,” said Michael Suby, Senior Research Analyst
with Stratecast Partners (a division of Frost & Sullivan). “The
complementary capabilities of Edgewater and LineSider deliver on the
twin goals of simplified management and cost savings enterprises expect
in moving to a converged network model.”
“Integrating functions into a single edge device simplifies the
operating environment for the enterprise,” said Dan Estridge,
Chief Technical Officer of LineSider Communications. “The EdgeMarc
series is the optimal platform for this type of integration effort because
it will further reduce the costs and complexity of securing and maintaining
mission-critical voice and data applications within a converged IP network.”
