Edgewater Networks, Inc. Expands Product Offering
With The Introduction of the EdgeMarc 38T Converged Network Appliance
- The EdgeMarc 38T eliminates the need for an external WAN
router, provides a 10/100 ethernet switch for the LAN and is the perfect
access device for deploying VoIP and data services over T1 or E1 WAN
links
Santa Clara, Calif. - October 30, 2003 - Edgewater
Networks, Inc., today introduced the EdgeMarc 38T enabling service providers
to deliver VoIP and data services to small and medium enterprise locations
with a single device. The EdgeMarc 38T combines an integral T1 CSU/DSU
or E1 and an 8-port 10/100 ethernet switch with the same great features
providers have come to expect from EdgeMarc Series appliances.
“EdgeMarc Series appliances provide all of the functions necessary
in a CPE demarcation point for hosted VoIP services”, said Dave
Norman Chief Executive Officer of Edgewater Network, Inc. “With
the introduction of the EdgeMarc 38T we add WAN link termination and
ethernet switching to this list of functions to further reduce cost
and complexity at the customer premise.”
The EdgeMarc 38T resolves NAT/Firewall traversal problems by providing
a “voice-aware” firewall that supports SIP, MGCP, H.323
or SCCP to protect the enterprise LAN. It also combines sophisticated
traffic management mechanisms including classification, prioritization,
queuing, rate limiting and call admission control to ensure toll quality
voice when using the same WAN link for both voice and data traffic.
It includes the same Dynamic Access Control List functionality of existing
EdgeMarc Series appliances which automates the provisioning, configuration
and management of VoIP endpoints at the CPE. Finally, the EdgeMarc 38T
includes bi-directional passive voice call monitoring (MOS scoring)
to produce speech quality assessment statistics that help enforce service
level agreements and facilitate problem resolution of network induced
voice quality problems.
Sentient Group, Inc. (Sentient) a provider and integrator of fully hosted,
managed voice and data services for business communications has been
using the EdgeMarc 38T as a CPE access device to deliver VoIPpro http://www.sentientgroupinc.com/productsandservices/voippro.html,
a nationwide managed communication service offering. “The EdgeMarc
38T enables us to use a single device to connect subscribers to our
service”, said Andrew Schoenfeld Chief Technical Officer of Sentient
Group, Inc. “This improves the reliability, manageability and
scalability of our service offering.”
Available immediately and priced at just $995 US list, the EdgMarc 38T
is 1/5th the cost of competing alternatives. For additional product
